Kutcher:Two And A Half Men, Replacement For Charlie Sheen

The former "That 70's Show" and "Punk'd" star has agreed to join "Two and a Half Men" as Charlie Sheen's replacement, The Hollywood Reporter relays. He's putting the final touches on his contract, which will offer him a "huge payday," according to THR.

Rumors around Ashton Kutcher's casting began to swirl earlier on Thursday. He most recently starred in the romantic comedy film "No Strings Attached."

Kutcher replaces Sheen, who, after having helped make the show the number one comedy on television, was fired for a long set of rants against the series' creator, Chuck Lorre. He has since gone on to mount a very public life with his porn star girlfriends, continuing to rail against Lorre and CBS in his "Violent Torpedo of Truth" road show. At one point, he said he wanted old friend Rob Lowe to replace him.

Television announced Friday that actor and native Iowan Ashton Kutcher will join the cast of the hit comedy, TWO AND A HALF MEN.  He will replace the character played by Charlie Sheen, who was fired from the show after a series of well publicized run-ins with the law.

"I can't wait to get to work with this ridiculously talented 2.5 team and I believe we can fill the stage with laughter that will echo in viewers' homes," said Kutcher.  "I can't replace Charlie Sheen but I'm going to work my ass off to entertain the hell out of people!"

Kutcher is an actor/producer and co-founder of Katalyst, a new breed of media company that creates original digital media, television and film properties.  Katalyst film credits include The Butterfly Effect, Guess Who, Spread and Killers.  For television, Kutcher has served as co-creator and producer of MTV's hit series Punk'd, and The CW's reality series Beauty and the Geek and True Beauty.

Kutcher first gained recognition as Michael Kelso on the Fox/Carsey Werner hit comedy series, "That 70's Show," which aired for eight seasons.  Kutcher went on to star in a variety of box office hits on the big screen, including What Happens In Vegas with Cameron Diaz, A Lot Like Love with Amanda Peet, Valentine's Day, No Strings Attached  with Natalie Portman, The Guardian with Kevin Costner, and the cult hit, Dude, Where's My Car.  Kutcher stars next in Garry Marshall's film, New Year's Eve, out in December 2011.

He is also well-known as the husband of fellow star Demi Moore.

TWO AND A HALF MEN is one of the top-rated television programs on CBS, and executives feared the show would not survive the loss of its top star.  The addition of Kutcher gives the show a high-profile, well-regarded actor known for his comedic skills.
